Aamir Khan and Ian McKellen are common on art



Aamir Khan and experienced actor Ian McKellen have something in common whereas both men hold up the arts and make efforts for a variety of matters of human rights, it is their adore for the British playwright, William Shakespeare that took these two brilliant artists jointly in one span.

In his initial impede on a 10-country trip, McKellen, who was in India with Shakespeare Lives on Film, a British Film Institute and British Council initiative, connected in a debate with the Bollywood actor at the opening of Mumbai Academy of Moving Images’ (MAMI) Film Club.

To honor the 400th death anniversary of the poet, the two men asserted regarding how they had both been stimulated by his words.

McKellen stated that “Shakespeare introduced me to the world of theatre,” McKellen further added “Shakespeare helps you empathize because you can’t judge the character that you are playing. He goes right to the heart of every character; The servants are as interesting to him as the boss.”

After doing a lot of works of Shakespeare crosswise the world, Sir Ian McKellen asserts, “There is nothing old fashioned about Shakespeare. You cannot understand Shakespeare in a classroom or by reading.”

On perceiving the playwright, he tells that “The right medium to find out his actual genius is through the theatre with the right actors, the right director (the way it is meant to be), as theatre, film and cinema are the best media to experience him. His thinking is about modernism and issues that are relevant even today; hence, his work travels across the globe,”

Amir Khan stated about this by asserting of his own experience with Shakespeare, “The first time I experienced Shakespeare was in the 10th grade when I studied Julius Caesar. It opened my world to a newness I had never known (before). In fact, my first movie was also inspired by Romeo and Juliet, a true Shakespearean classic.”

We are confident that the management at MAMI was frivolous on getting Gandalf and Magneto as the chief guest!
