Aaqib Javed refused BCB’s bowling coach offer273 views
Aaqib Javed, who is the previous Pakistani right-arm fast bowler, rejected the offer to join the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) as bowling coach on Monday.
The 43-year-old is at present working with Lahore Qalandars which is one of the five Pakistan Super League sides; he is working as the director of cricket operations. Aaqib left the job from his head coach position with UAE in April subsequent to operational with them for four years to start the role with Lahore Qalandars.
Aaqib told in an interview that “I have recently joined Lahore Qalandars and started working from last Friday only, so it’s not possible for me to take any other job,”
He further stated that he will be searching for short-term projects later than the second edition of PSL.
He said that “But I may be open for a short-term coaching consultant job after the second edition of PSL, not as full-time [coach],” he continued by saying that “Right now I am in a long-term relationship with the Qalandars and I am committed to them, and it’s not really reasonable for me to take up role with Bangladesh.”
In the meantime, BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury affirmed Aaqib’s rejection stating that they are searching for other aspirants.
Chowdhury said that “After we contacted him, Aaqib considered our proposal but [declined] because it would be very difficult to handle two important positions at the same time,” Chowdhury further added that “As we were doing before, we are looking for other options in this position.”
On Sunday beginning, BCB president Nazmul Hassan told that Aaqib was to be given the role.
Hassan said that “We are in touch with Aaqib,” Hassan continued “Our CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury informed us that we will get an answer from him – yes or no – by the day after tomorrow (Tuesday). We are also discussing if we can talk about the alternatives.”
