KARACHI: Noted philanthropist and social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi would be placed on ventilator until his health condition was recovered, said Faisal Edhi on Friday while talking to media.

Edhi was earlier shifted to hospital in the morning due to facing difficulty in breathing. He has been shifted into Intensive Care Unit of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT). The SIUT officials confirmed that Abdul Sattar Edhi has been placed on ventilator.

Faisal Edhi said he was put on ventilator to avoid complications. He would be placed on ventilator until his health condition was recovered. Expert doctors were doing their best for improvement of Edhi’s condition.

“He is in critical condition though, but we believe that his health will recover,” he said adding that “doctors say that he has few major complications which are hypotension, kidney failure, diabetes and general weakness because of low diet.”

Well-known surgeon Adeebul Hasan Rizvi is heading the team of doctors treating Abdul Sattar Edhi. The doctors have said the next 6-8 hours were very crucial for his life.

Faisal Edhi has appealed the nation for prayer. He said their family wanted to transplant kidneys but doctors had forbidden the transplantation because of his old age.
