Since the Pakistani film industry has enhanced its levels, most of the models are dreaming to debut, same was the dreams of Sadaf Kanwal who also dreamt about it. “I dream of working with a good script and most importantly, a great character,” she said in an interview and didn’t see in any film. But now she has signed a role in a film which is set to direct by Haissam Hussain, the name of the upcoming venture is Balu Mahi, and the cast includes Osman Khalid Butt and Ainy Jaffri, along with Kanwal.

Kanwal was sharing about her role in the upcoming film as, “I took this role because the character I’m playing is very similar to the real me. I don’t personally like those ronay dhonay walay dramas. It’s a comedy film with jokes and dancing and that’s what I’m all about.” Whereas Jaffri performs the protagonist, Kanwal performs her best friend and a happy-go-lucky girl. Kanwal revealed that the movie has a dance number of her. It was inquired that whether it will be an item song then she told that “It’s an elaborate Shaadi dance number that establishes the mood of the film.” The movie is being filmed in Lahore and Kanwal will join the cast and crew next month.

She further added that she become a model by chance, “My ultimate goal was always acting but I didn’t know how to act so I became a model,” she continued that “When I became a model, people insisted I give acting a shot and that’s how I ended up here.” Many eminent models, later on, became best actors like Iman Ali and Amna Ilyas which shows that modeling leads to the acting.

Kanwal was always impressed by her paternal grandmother Salma Mumtaz and aunt Nida Mumtaz, both of whom were actors. “It was in the family so I always wanted to get into acting. Now, with Balu Mahi, I think I could have a future, and if people like my acting I’ll definitely continue with a few projects every year.” Kanwal wants to work with Pakistani leading actor Nauman Ijaz in the future. “I’m a big fan of his work;,” she said, “A chance to work with Shoaib Mansoor would be great too.”

She further revealed that “I love modeling but it has an expiry date. Acting goes on all your life so I think I should delve into that.” She continued by saying that “I’ve shown people I can walk the ramp and pose but now I want to show them there’s more to me. I can also talk.”

Kanwal has slated to attend actor Nadia Jamil’s voice modulation classes to polish her acting skills before going to act in Balu Mahi.
