Arsenal wins Community Shield, Wenger ends Mourinho jinx

LONDON: It took Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger 14 fixtures to register his first victory over Chelsea’s Portuguese boss Jose Mourinho, as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlin scored the winner and sealed the match for FA Cup winners by 1-0.

The English midfielder scored the decider in the 24th minute of the game at the Wembley Stadium, to end Mourinho’s winning run against his French rival. Oxlade-Chamberlain, who faked defender Cesar Azpilicueta and lashed a thunderous short from his left-foot in the top of the net with a perfect finish steer pass Chelsea’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

After winning their 13th Community Shield, Wenger said that its a good pre-season for us as we are strong defensively and had beaten the current English Champions. The Gunners scored their first goal against Chelsea after 506 minutes of football.

Now if we go down to the memory lane, Oxlade-Chamberlain was the player which Mourinho was demanding for a switch with Chelsea’s legendary goalkeeper Peter Cech, but Wenger refused. Talking about Cech who is now in the colors of Arsenal made a brilliant save in the 69th minute of the match, a free-kick from Brazilian midfielder Oscar. The Blues couldn’t find any way past their former goalkeeper Cech.
