Artists support for Shafqat Amanat Ali333 views
India-Pakistan World T20 cricket match was abuzz by both side’s enthused nationals. To represent their respective countries on the field Amitabh Bachchan and Shafqat Amanat Ali sang their respective national anthems of their countries prior to confrontation. Whereas Amitabh’s performance was much of a forerunner to India’s zealous on-field performance, Shafqat apparently futile to make the nation proud with his further perfect singing skills.
After few minutes when he was done with the performance, the ex- Fuzon front man illustrated the fury of his fellow countrymen, compelling him to afterward upload a long apology on Facebook, elucidating that what seemed as him forgetting the lines was quite an “audio and technical” malfunction.
Along with the controversy, strong personals of the music industry have thrown weight at the back of Amanat scion. A well known singer across the border, Ali Zafar stated that Shafqat would come out from the incident like an improved person. He said that “I can understand the sentiment of the general public but one thing that should be understood is that human error is something unavoidable,”
The rock star who has also performed in the past at the Pakistan Super League (PSL) opening ceremony, stated about the pressure and weight of hope on Shafqat all through the performance. He added as, “We should not disown or isolate him based on this mistake. Shafqat bhai’s contribution is immense and all of that must not be forgotten only because of one mistake.”
Abrarul Haq who is also a long-time buddy of Shafqat, stated that it was not deliberate. “The criticism is justified because it is the national anthem and he was representing us, that too in hostile territory,” added Abrar. “But we should not criticize him just because of that. We should, instead, learn from these mistakes. As a nation, we have a terrible tendency of not learning from our mistakes.”
The eminent and most admired singer across the borders, Atif Aslam, also spoke in the favor of Mitwa singer. Representing the instance of fast bowler Mohammad Amir, Atif stated, “Even Amir bowled no-balls and now he is back and performing to the best of his ability. We should forgive and forget,” he continued on commenting on the admiration which Amitabh got for his performance, he told, “I don’t know the facts but from what I saw, I think Amitabh Bachchan was lip-syncing.” In fact Abrar is also agreed with Atif by saying that Shafqat could have made use of a teleprompter.
Musician Zoheb Hassan stated that “It is only human to commit an error. Big concerts tend to have these technical issues,”
But Shafqat’s ex- band mate, Imran Momina, usually recognized as Immu, is still unhappy with the performance by saying that “I think he lost it big time. An ordinary man, if presented with such an opportunity, would have sung with more emotion. His over-confidence may have caused the slip. Just look at Amitabh. He is in his 70s and he didn’t forget the lines,” he added as, “How can you forget the lyrics to the national anthem? It is wrong to forget something you learn as a child!”
However Shafqat is not the initial artist who performs his national anthem wrongly. Some years ago, Christina Aguilera also did the mistake when she messed up the lyrics to the American national anthem at the Super Bowl XLV ceremony.
