Bollywood has been home to many accomplished singers who rule the hearts of millions with their melodious voices.

One such singing sensation is Asha Bhosle who is known for mesmerising audiences with her versatile singing style.

The sensational singer who turned 82 today started her career in 1948 with ‘Chala chala nav bala’ in the 1943 Marathi film ‘Majha Bal’.

Often known as the ‘queen of groove’ first tasted success with BR Chopra’s Naya Daur in 1957, in which she sang ‘Maang ke saath tumhara’, ‘Saathi haath badhana’ and ‘Uden jab jab zulfein teri’.

Thereafter there was no looking back for Asha. In a career spanning over half a century filled with music and milestones, Asha Bhosle has sung in several Indian and foreign languages apart from Hindi. With over 12,000 recordings to her name, she is the world’s most quintessential female singer.
