Asif crossed limits of decency against Mazari at many levels: Imran Khan578 views
ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan on Thursday condemned Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s ‘remaining unrepentant’ over ‘offensive’ remarks against PTI leader Shireen Mazari.
“Asif’s shameful attack on our woman MNA in NA crossed bounds of decency at many levels,” he posted on his Twitter account.
He said Khawaja Asif’s remaining unrepentant reflected a mentality that could not comprehend at how many levels his remarks were offensive and unacceptable.
He also criticized National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for not taking up the issue in a proper way.
“Equally disturbing was speaker’s collusion with Khawaja Asif. This is not about a party or a person but about the dignity of women,” he tweeted.
During the assembly session on Wednesday, Asif had dubbed Shireen Mazari as ‘Trolley Tractor’, leading to prompt counter attack from the PTI parliamentarians.
Asif has today apologized for his inappropriate statements in a letter. Shireen Mazari, however, has refused to accept the apology read out by Sadiq, saying that she would only do so if Asif came to the house himself and apologised personally.
“Khawaja Asif owes me a personal apology for what he said on the floor of the assembly,” stressed Mazari.
Imran Khan, in his tweets, also rejected reports of two Khyber Pakhtunkhwa ministers coming short of party expectations.
“There is absolutely no truth in rumours that I am disappointed in our KP ministers Atif and Shahram. In fact, they are KP government’s star performers.”
