Ballet dancing and meditation can improve wisdom

According to a research study meditation and constant practice of ballet dancing is probable to improve wisdom.

Meditation and somatic practices for example classical ballet can help in enhancing wisdom. The findings of the research study illustrated that the people who practiced meditation, vipassana (29 per cent), mindfulness (23 per cent), had more wisdom than the people who did not.

Moreover, meditation can play a role as a stress-buster or pain-reliever and also assist in decreasing anxiety. Patrick B. Williams, who is a lead author and postdoctoral researcher at the University of Chicago in US, stated that “The link between ballet and wisdom is mysterious to us and something that we’re already investigating further,”

Participants who practiced ballet had the lowest levels of wisdom. However, the people who practiced ballet more they have the elevated scored on determines of psychological features that are linked with wisdom, the researcher elucidated in the research study cited in PLOS ONE. Monika Ardelt, who is a leading wisdom researcher but was not involved in the venture, stated that “That meditation is associated with wisdom is good to confirm, but the finding that the practice of ballet is associated with increased wisdom is fascinating,”

The researchers of the study directed a self-reported survey to 298 participants employing Survey Monkey, a famous Internet-based device that is more and more being employed to perform scientific surveys and studies. The survey inquired regarding the experience (both in amount of years and hours of practice) of teachers and students of meditation, the Alexander Technique (a method for getting better posture, balance, coordination, and movement), the Feldenkrais Method (a form of somatic education that seeks to enhance movement and physical function, decrease pain, and amplify self-awareness), and classical ballet.
