Brazil through to quarters of Copa America, Colomiba 0-0 Peru



SANTIAGO: Neymar-less Brazil has topped ‘Group C’ and qualified for the quarter-finals of Copa America after defeating Venezuela 2-1 in their last group match, Colombia and Peru have also qualified for the last eight of the competition despite a draw.

Paris Saint-Germain star Thiago Silva scored the opening goal of the match from a corner-kick of Robinho in the early ninth minute of the match to take the lead. In the 2nd-half of the match Silva almost doubled his scoring tally with an extraordinary header from a corner-kick of Willian, but a brilliant save by Venezuela’s goalkeeper.


Brazil scored their second goal of the match in the 51st minute of the game, a brilliant run by Chelsea star Willian on the baseline and then assisted to striker Firmino in front of the goal for a perfect finish. Venezuela also scored a constitutional in the 84th minute of the match from a rebound of the free-kick.

In the quarter-finals of Copa America 2015, the host team Chile will face Uruguay on Wednesday while Bolivia will face Peru on Thursday and Colombia will face Argentina on Friday and Brazil will face Paraguay on Saturday.
