Brazil’s striker Firmino signed by Liverpool for £29 million



LONDON: Brazil’s international striker Roberto Firmino has been signed by the Premier League club Liverpool for a reported fee of £29 million, according to the BBC.

The 23 year-old Firmino has made a move from Bundesliga club Hoffenheim, currently he’s on a international duty for Brazil playing the Copa America 2015 at Chile.

In a statement on their official website, club said, ‘Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Roberto Firmino from Hoffenheim, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player’s participation in Copa America 2015 for Brazil. The 23-year-old has agreed a long-term contract with the club.’

According to the BBC, the duration of the contract is of five years and it’s the second highest contract ever paid by Liverpool after a £35 million move for Andy Carroll in 2011.

Firmino has scored 47 goals in 151 appearances for Hoffenheim in his four and a half year span at German League, he has also scored four times in his nine appearances for his country.
