CM Sindh offers Imran Khan chairmanship of cricket committee

LARKANA: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday offered Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf  chairman Imran Khan to head the cricket committee of the province. 

The Chief Minister while speaking to media said that politics is not sports but rather a serious business, and the only objective is to serve the people. He pointed out that some politicians were still use cricket terminology in politics.

“Imran Khan should play cricket. If he needs a job, then I will make him the head of the Sindh Cricket Association if we want to set up in the province,” he said.

He said that the Pakistan People’s Party was a democratic party and had presented four demands for the Prime Minister which their democratic right.

He said that Imran Khan was still not a mature or serious-minded politician, but they were willing to talk with the mature members of the party. This was evident from the fact that he not the recent all-parties conference called on the request of the opposition.

The Chief Minister also announced a new committee to investigate the 2007 Karsaz attack in Karachi on the convoy of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

He lamented that that investigation could be held properly under a conspiracy as evidence was removed overnight, but said that he has been instructed by Bilawal Bhutto to initiate investigation which can still be held today. The five-member investigation team will be chaired by Additional Inspector General Sanaullah Abbasi.

Bilawal Bhutto had earlier visited Garhi Khuda Baksh to pay tribute to the victims of Karsaz attack whom of which were buried there as well.

Murad said that Bilawal Bhutto is carrying forward the mission of his mother, and had launched his political struggle with the Oct 16 rally which had received an unprecedented response. He announced the development of a memorial to honour the Karsaz victims on the ninth death anniversary of the attack.

While commenting on the accusations level against Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ebad by Paksarzameen Party chief Mustafa Kamal, he said that there were allegations against him previously as well.  He said that the Governor is the representative on the federation and his removal was the prerogative of the Prime Minister.

However, he called on the federal government to improve its discriminatory attitude towards Sindh and said that all provinces must be treated equally fairly. ‘”The Prime Minister only sees the Chief Minister of a single province,” he said.

He said that they believe in the parliamentary system and the constitution, but if provinces are neglected then they will raise slogans against them. He said that the solution to several problems such as the electricity woes in the country was in Sindh.
