Mumbai: Is it an indirect dig at MS Dhoni? Days before the release of Indian captain’s biopic, batsman Gautham Gambhir has spoken out against making movies on cricketers.
Gambhir, who was not selected in the recently announced test team for the upcoming home series against New Zealand, feels that people who have contributed more to the country deserve a biopic rather than cricketers.
“I don’t believe in biopics on cricketer,” tweeted Gambhir.
“There are lots of people in the country who have done so many noble deeds for the nation. Therefore biopics should be made on their lives.”
Gambhir’s tweets came after the Uri attacks and he says the 17 soldiers who were killed in the militant attack deserve a biopic rather than any cricketer.
“These 17 martyrs deserve a biopic rather dan (than) any cricketer. No better inspiration dan (than) a young man sacrificing his life 4 (for) his country.”
Dhoni’s biopic named, ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ is set to release across India on September 30. The movie documents the rags to riches story of the small town cricketer, who would go on to win 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup for India.
