‘Dark Day’ for Pakistan hockey alerts PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, who is also the patron-in-chief of Pakistan Hockey Federation(PHF) demanded answers for slump of national hockey team at Hockey World League(HWL) at Antwerp, Belgium.

On Friday, Pakistan lost to Ireland by 1-0 for the 5th and 8th position match, by losing this match Greenshirts lost the only chance to qualify for the Olympic Rio Games 2016. After this humiliation Nawaz Sharif has demanded explanation from PHF for the slump in national sport. He has also asked the federation for recommendations to improve the national Imran-1game and achieve the past glory.

In the rich history of Pakistan hockey, this is for the first time Greenshirts have failed to qualify for Olympics since the start of mega event. Pakistan also failed to qualify for the hockey World Cup last year for the first time in their history.

Pakistan just had to finish 5th in the HWL, but they couldn’t manage to fulfill the task as they couldn’t manage to score in front of the goal through out the tournament.
