Don’t even think of installing Pokemon Go on Windows Phone

Don’t even think of installing Pokemon Go on Windows Phone

If you install the game on Windows Phone, Niantic, the game developer will permanently ban you.

In a new update, Niantic has said that they will permanently ban users who will be using the Pokemon go game along with third-party cheat apps that enables the user to spoof the GPS location in order to capture the little monsters. This is against the rules of the game and will end you into trouble with the game registrations.

For now, Pokemon Go is only available on Android and iOS platforms and Niantic is not aiming to hit the Windows Phone platform any soon. However, there are many developers who have managed to get Pokemon Go running on Windows Phones by tweaking the original app. Third-party apps are emulating the operating system for the Pokemon Go game so that the game thinks it is running on a compatible platform. However, Niantic is detecting unauthorised installations of the said game and is banning the users permanently from using Pokemon Go.

According to a report by Softpedia, a set of skilled developers for Windows Phone are working to bring Pokemon Go on Windows handsets, without legally collaborating with Niantic. The third-party app called PoGo UWP is a client for using Pokemon Go on Windows Phones. However, the app stopped working post a new update released by Niantic. The new app that was pushed out recently has an update to the API which locks out unofficial apps and all further updates to the official game.

What is PoGo?

PoGo is an UWP (Universal Windows Platform) client for Niantic’s Pokemon Go Android/iOS game. Being a client, this means that it gives you the ability to play in the same game-world as your friends that are playing with an Android or iOS device.

A recent warning on GitHub mentions that one should ‘not install’ the unofficial game on Windows Phone since the game developing company is locking the said unofficial app and further banning the users from the platform.

“Please do not install any builds that are not officially released at the link above. We currently are not releasing new builds for a reason, which currently is: We don’t have the right tools to spoof your device like an Apple device. If you download and run any non-dev generated appx, your account is being flagged and there is a high chance you’ll get your Pokemon Go account banned. Please also do not ask for new builds,” reads the post on GitHub.
