Emma Watson, the leading star of magical series Harry Potter, has stated her support for Swaziland-born actor Noma Dumezweni, who is playing the new Hermione Granger’s role, in the imminent stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The previous lady of Harry Potter series, Watson, who has performed the “brightest witch of her age”, told about her enthusiasm on Twitter for Dumezweni. She posted that “Can’t wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year,”
Dumezweni joins Jamie Parker as Harry Potter and Paul Thornley as Ron Weasley in the production, which picks up 19 years later than the events of The Deathly Hallows.
Previously writer J. K. Rowling, who wrote the story with Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, supported the casting of a black actor for the character of Hermione. The Harry Potter’s writer posted on tweeter in December 2015 that “Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever… White skin was never specified,”
Harry Potter actress Evanna Lynch, who performed the role of Luna Lovegood, also showed her excitement for the casting declaration. She posted as “Ohh my God, a brand new trio! How strange and exciting! #TheCursedChild. Tbh new Hermione is black, Harry looks like Ron, when I was cast people complained about my hair and it is people’s hearts not their looks that matter.”
Dumezweni triumphs an esteemed Olivier Award, which recognize the luminaries of London theatre, for her character in the play A Raisin in the Sun. She also came on British TV shows Shameless, Doctor Who and Eastenders.
This is going to appear 19 years later than the end of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which would be the seventh and final novel of the series, where Harry is working for the Ministry of Magic, and the government of Britain’s Magical community in the saga.
The play is scheduled to be performed on 7 June in London.
