Environmentalists welcome Ban on Hunting Houbara Bustard in Pak


ISLAMABAD: The environmentalists and Wild Life campaigners have welcomed Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision of imposing a ban on hunting houbara bustard , a rare bird.

Chief Justice Justice Jawad S Khawaja has cancelled the license given by federal government to Arab Princes and other royal local sand foreigners.

WWF Pakistan and the environmentalists have praised this decision of the court and declared it a welcome step to save nature and rare species.

546823da668dbArab Royals exercise this practice of hunting Houbara Bustard commonly in Pakistan because its meat is prized among them, but this bird is one the red list of threatened species due to dwindling number.

Balochistan High Court had cancelled the permit of houbara bustard hunting but the PMLN Led federal government continued issuing licenses as country’s premier PM Nawaz is very inclined towards Saudi Arabia.
