Fakhr-e-Alam resigns as chairman Sindh Censor Board


KARACHI: Well-known bhangra singer Fakhr-e-Alam on Monday resigned from chairmanship of Sindh Censor Board in protest against non-provision of security to artists.

While talking to ARY News channel, Fakhr said the artists had already said at every platform that the demand made for security was symbolic which meant that all the citizens should be given security.

Two days back, dozens of artists headed by Fakhr had submitted an application in a Defence police station demanding their security.

He said the time had reached that he decide whether to enjoy perks of his designation or live a life of common citizen.


“If the government cannot provide security to masses then security of the government officials should also be withdrawn,” he said.

“I Fakhr e Alam hereby submit my resignation from the position of chairman Sindh board of film censorship because of personal reasons and hereby relinquish my charge with immediate effect,” he wrote on his resignation letter to chief minister Sindh.

He posted on his Twitter account, “I have submitted my resignation from my position as Chairman Sindh censor board and thank the govt for the opportunity.”
