Manish Malhotra, the Indian ace fashion designer, displayed his most recent collection The Persian Story at the FDCI India Couture Week 2016 and Bollywood star Deepika Padukone and Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Khan seemed to be the ideal showstoppers for the collection.
The exhibition was organized at the Taj Palace here on Wednesday, where the debonair looking Pakistani luminary was greeted to the ramp by deafening cheers and whistles from the mass when he walked in a black Kurta and deep maroon palazzo-pyjama and unfastened the great gig for the designer.
Pursuing Fawad, models started displaying Malhotra’s collection when they walked to the melody of authentic persian music. The collection witnessed an extensive variety of heavily embroidered lehengas, off shoulder gowns, long jackets, Anarkalis, sherwanis and sequinned outfits which characterized detailed architectural, floral motifs and check shirts and achkans.
The color palette turned from cream, gold, red, indigo, brown maroon, royal blue to yellow.
The designer endeavored to reconstruct the magic of Persia by repeating the customary marble motifs, famous Persian chandeliers which put more spunk to the whole feel of the occasion and a minute shamiana (a marquee), which assisted the models egress the ramp.
The trend setter inform regarding his inspiration, “I had Persian Story’s idea in mind for so many years. I love Persian architecture, I like the color schemes of Persia, music and that was a concept I had in my mind and that’s how it got generated.”
Deepika, who was selected to end the gig for Malhotra, astonished the spectators when she looked ravishing in a gorgeous off shoulder choli, with elaborated gold embroidery and a long-trailed lehenga. The Bajirao Mastani celebrity as well wore a polki-pearl band and a hath-phool from Hazoorilal by Sandeep Narang.
Stating regarding the wonderful showstoppers, Manish, who has styled worldwide known names such as Michael Jackson, Reese Witherspoon, Kylie Minogue and Naomi Campbell, stated: “I am so thankful to Fawad for being here and dearest Deepika. I know her since she was a model and her first film…it’s a very special moment.”
Deepika, who commenced her career as model, told the collection she dressed at the occasion was the heaviest.
She told that “The last time I walked for him (Malhotra) I thought that (outfit) was the heaviest. This is much much heavier,”
For Fawad, who made his debut into Hindi cinema in 2014 with the romantic comedy Khoobsurat, this was the initial time on the Indian ramp and stated that the experience was “daunting”.
When it was inquired that whether it was his initial time on the ramp in Delhi, Fawad replied: “In Delhi for the first time? In India for the first time. Obviously (it was) very daunting.”
Bollywood stars such as Sophie Choudry, experienced actor-socialist Shabana Azmi, deigner JJ Valaya put their own allure by gracing the occasion.
Further names from the Indian fashion fraternity such as Anita Dongre, Tarun Tahiliani, Reynu Taandon, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Rahul Mishra, Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Gaurav Gupta, Manav Gangwani and Rohit Bal will display their most recent collection at the five-day occasion, which ends on July 24.
