FIA probe against MQM to be concluded in two weeks: Nisar Ali Khan

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Thursday said that the FIA committee formed to probe allegations against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) would present its findings to the ministry in two weeks.

Addressing a press conference, Nisar clarified that the committee was formed on the interview of Pakistani businessman Sarfaraz Merchant, who leveled allegations against MQM and also shared evidences against him.

The committee would investigate allegations of money laundering, connection with Indian spy agency RAW and other criminal activities, he said.

“I have written to all the intelligence agencies and Sindh government to share any kind of information to the FIA committee regarding the allegations,” he said.

“I also invite Mustafa Kamal and all others, who have any information about the allegations, to share them with the committee,” Nisar added.

He said summon had been issued to Sarfaraz Merchant in this regard, adding that if he failed to appear before the committee, the government would be left with no other option than to seek help from British authorities for interviewing him.
