Former Pakistani skipper Wasim Akram slams PCB204 views
KARACHI: Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram has said that Shahid Afridi is the ‘best option’ for leading Pakistan in the Twenty20 format.
While defending the national cricket team, Wasim Akram severely criticized Pakistan Cricket Board for constituting a committee to ascertain the reasons behind embarrassing defeats in Asia Cup just before the beginning of World T20 cup. Watch what he had to say.
In a presser on Saturday, Wasim Akram said that Shahid Afridi is playing as a hitter for the past 15 years.
“How can we expect him to change his style of approach after all these years”, Akram said.
The former Pakistani pacer said that he was disappointed with Pakistan’s performance in this year’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh. Blaming the system for their tournament show, the former fast bowler said that cricket will automatically improve if the system is reformed.
Akram said that the inquiry committee, formed to investigate Pakistan’s Asia Cup performance, will make no difference.
He added that the players should be given confidence before heading into the World Twenty20 this year.
