Guerrero’s treble scripts Peru vs Chile semi of Copa America



TEMUCO: Peru’s striker Paolo Guerrero scored a brilliant hat-trick to beat Bolivia 3-1 to cement their place in the semi-final against their top-rivals the host nation of Copa America 2015 Chile.

The 31 year-old forward Guerrero, who is in Brazil for past three years had a stint in Germany with Bayern Munich and Hamburg scored the opening goal of the game with a brilliant header in 21st minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead for Peru.


After just two minutes he scored his second goal of the match to make it 2-0, a brilliant counter displayed by Peru’s attack ended the hopes of Bolivia for this year’s Copa America. Guerrero completed his hat-trick in the 75th minute of the match, which was a gift presented to him by a Bolivian defender.

Bolivian striker Marcelo Martins scored a consolation goal for his country from the penalty spot in the 84th minute of the game.


Now then Peru has qualified for the semi-finals of the Copa America, they will face their arch-rivals Chile. The footballing rivalry between these two nations begun in 1935, the matches between these two neighbors are known as “Clasico del Pacifico” which leads to a historical war between the two nations from 1879 to 1883 for the Pacific.

Guerrero was the Golden Boot winner four years ago in Copa America and now he is level with Chile’s Arturo Vidal with three goals a peace.
