High Commissioner of Pakistan, Tariq Azim Khan to Canada visited Calgary632 views
His Excellency Tariq Azim along with Dr Tariq Ahmad Counsel General of Pakistan in Vancouver visited Calgary on Sunday March 6th 2016. H E, Tariq Azeem met with Pakistani Calgarians in Pakistani community Centre at 2 pm.
This program was organized by Pakistan Canada Association with the collaboration of Pakistan Canada Cultural Association of Alberta and press club of Calgary. In this meeting, Hon. Irfan Sabir and Hon. Mike Sheikh were also present to welcome his Excellency. President of Pakistan Canada Association, Mr. Habib Abdullah and President Pakistan Canada Cultural Association of Alberta, Mr. Asjad Bukhri and Shaan Ali Of Pakistani press club of Calgary welcomed the guests.
The most beautiful thing of this function was that all the ordinations in Calgary of Pakistani descent were involved and present to make this event a great success. Hon. Irfan Sabir spoke about the difficulties faced by Pakistani Calgarians regarding high commission and council general issues such as visa and documentation attestation, he emphasized that his Excellency made the sincere effort to have a Pakistani consulate here in Calgary and he assured any help he can provide from the government of Alberta he would do his utmost to use his abilities to make it a easy transition, he also conveyed a goodwill message of Alberta government to His Excellency.
Mike Sheikh also said that he has been trying to get the consulate here in Calgary and it would be beneficial to Pakistani oil fields in that being Calgary is a hub of Canadian oil and gas exploration. With the down turn in Alberta economy this would be perfect time to ask for assistance in oil field works, having a consulate here in Calgary would make things easier for the oil company to work with Pakistani oilfields.
Counsel general Dr. Tariq Ahmed assured Pakistani Calgarians that his office would make more frequent visits to Calgary in future as it will be much easier for Pakistani Canadians to acquire consulate services as they have started issuing machine readable passport in Vancouver.
At the end, His Excellency spoke to Pakistani Calgarians in response to everyone wish to have a consulate here he did not made any promise, but promised to make NICOP and machine readable passport available quickly to public towards the end of the program.
Dr. David Swan Leader Alberta Liberal Party also blessed the community with his visit. High Commissioner requested him to ask the Liberal government to lift travel advisory for Pakistan to Canadians. And his office would make it easier for Canadian business people to acquire visas for Pakistan so they can freely travel to Pakistan and have their business set up or invest in Pakistani economy.
