How fatty diet make you sleepy at work

Most of the people experience drowsy during daytime at work and the big reason behind it is, their love for oily samosas and cheese-laden pizzas and also the late night’s sleeping habits.

A new research study has stated that the men who consume diets elevated in fat and sleep less during night time are much probable to feel drowsy in the day.

Yingting Cao, who is the lead author and doctoral student at the University of Adelaide in Australia, stated that “After adjusting for other demographic and lifestyle factors and chronic diseases, we found that those who consumed the highest fat intake were more likely to experience excessive daytime sleepiness,”

Higher intake of food items affluent in fat was also robustly linked with sleep apnea, which is a sleep disorder.

Cao noted in the paper, which is cited in the journal Nutrients, that “Poor sleep and feeling sleepy during the day means you have less energy, but this, in turn, is known to increase people’s cravings for high-fat, high-carbohydrate foods associated with poor sleep outcomes. So the poor diet-and-sleep pattern can become a vicious cycle,”

Daytime sleepiness can have considerable insinuation for attentiveness and attention, the researchers notified, putting that people require to give more concentration to consume healthier and have a good sleep.

Cao further added that “We hope our work could help to inform future intervention studies, enabling people to achieve healthy weight loss while also improving their quality of sleep,”

The findings have relied on data of above 1800 Australian men aged 35-80 and involved their dietary habits above a 12-month phase.

Amid those with accessible dietary and sleep data, 41 percent of the men surveyed had accounted practicing daytime sleepiness, whereas 47 percent of them had poor sleep quality at night.

Almost 54 percent had mild-to-moderate sleep apnea, and 25 percent had moderate-to-severe sleep apnea.
