Humaima Malick speaks out against India beef ban

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani model and film actress Humaima Malick on Thursday slammed India for banning the minority Muslim community from eating beef in several states.

Her reaction came a day after Indian media reported that two Muslim women were beaten up by Hindu volunteers over suspicions that they were carrying cow meat.

A purported video of the incident showed the police standing by as a group of women, reportedly belonging to a right-wing group, assault the two victims — identified as Salma Ismail Mewati, 30, and Shameem Akhtar Hussain, 35, both residents of Khanpura locality of Mandsaur town — in the presence of some male activists. No action has been taken against any of the attackers.

It was later established the meat seized from the Muslim women was of buffalo. The slaughter of cow is not illegal in the state.
Reacting to the development, Humaima Malik took to the social media to condemn the beef ban.

“Forcing an entire community from eating meat and punishing them for doing so is not terrorism? ,” the Bol star questioned.

Her tweet ignited angry response from Indian twitterati who trolled the Pakistani model for her stance.
