Jacqueline becomes judge of Jhalak Dikhhla Ja



Sri Lankan actress, the former model, and the winner of the 2006 Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant, Jacqueline Fernandez, is the view that wearing the judge’s hat for the famous Indian dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Ja is a huge responsibility.

The beauty queen is setting to join film-maker Karan Johar and leading choreographer Ganesh Hedge on the gigs judges’ panel for its impending season.

Jacqueline was stating about the show and she told, “It is a very new and different experience but I have amazing co-judges with me and we are having a lot of fun. Judging these contestants who are celebrities is something big.”

The show – which is scheduled to arrive on air on 30 July – will mark performers like Sidhanth Gupta, Shantanu Maheswari, Surveen Chawla, Karishma Tanna, Helly Shah and Shakti Arora amongst others as participants.


Jacqueline was in Delhi for a media conference to endorse her imminent movie Dishoom. The actor from Kick was united at the occasion by her co-stars, Varun Dhawan and John Abraham, of the movie.

Jacqueline told regarding her character in Dishoom that “It is actually a tomboy character. It was a lot of fun because I actually got to do what the boys were doing – all the action and all the running around. I was really excited to play the character of Ishita.”

Dishoom is directed by Rohit Dhawan and is scheduled to hit the theaters on Friday. The movie as well provides a dance item by Bollywood magnificence Parineeti Chopra which, Jacqueline shared, has put in a touch of glamour to the movie.

It was inquired regarding her consideration on Parineeti’s cameo in the song Jaaneman Aah, Jacqueline told, “I loved the song! I thought she was looking amazing. She was the most amazing choice for the song. She dances so well and she looks so good. She added a touch of glamour to the film and I am glad that she was a part of it.”


Jacqueline, in addition, asserted that things have altered for female actresses in the field of the entertainment industry as authors are currently cropping up with many attractive scripts for them. She stated that “There is definitely a change in Bollywood for female actors. Writers are coming up with more interesting scripts for them now,” she further continued “Besides, I also feel we have taken a stand. The writers have put their foot down and are working towards more female-centric roles. It’s a great thing.”

Dishoom pursues the plot of two policemen who are sent on a 36-hour manhunt to the Middle East when India’s top cricketer goes missing. It has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros International Media Ltd.
