Kareena Kapoor: I want to act till I’m eighty years old

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan said recently that she was not going anywhere and would like to act till she’s eighty years-old.

This should be welcome news for fans of Kareena Kapoor Khan. The Bollywood actress has no plans to leave the Indian film industry anytime soon, according to herself. In an interview, Kareena said that now the film industry respected actors and actresses a lot as opposed to the 90s era.

“Directors respect actresses more now. In the ’90s, the industry was very male centric. But, even when I made my debut, with Refugee (2000), I had a great role in it,” she said. Kareena also spoke of how the current women-centric films would increase the demand for female actors and bring about a change.

“Back then, I did films like Chameli and Omkara. Now, with films like Neerja doing so well, I think directors have come to understand female actors a lot better. The disparity will remain, but with films like Tanu Weds Manu (2011) doing well, I think the pay cheques will also change,” she said.

Kapoor also spoke of how she was still very much a part of the film industry and would love to keep going till she’s eighty.
“I’m very happy with what I have, and the fire in me is still burning. There’s always a journey ahead. I’m not going anywhere. I’ve parked myself. I’m still not satisfied, and I don’t think an actor should ever be satisfied, because then, you become lackadaisical. I want to act till I’m 80,” she said.

I guess it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing a lot more of Kareena Kapoor!
