LG polls worse than 1977 election, says Pervaiz Elahi

GUJRAT: Pakistan Muslim League-Q leader and former Punjab chief minister has accused the government of carrying out massive rigging in local government election.

He said the election was worse than general election of 1977 in terms of rigging. “It was government’s election because District Coordination Officers (DCO) were acting as Returning Officers (ROs)”.

He claimed rigging was taking place everywhere in Punjab and media too showed evidence in this  regard. “We already knew the government was going to rig the election, but decided to contest only to let the people know how is rigging carried out by Nawaz League,” he said.

Pervaiz Elahi said: ” Today’s election has exposed real face of Shahbaz Sharif and Nawaz Sharif,” he said. When asked whether he would accept the election results, Elahi said the PML-Q would decide its future course of action after results of the election are announced.

He said other political parties should also raise the issue of rigging as the N-league has sabotaged the entire system.
