One of Pakistan’s most famous duo, Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali, are the household names since they have worked together. Their chemistry evidently illustrates with the three successful ventures that they have marked in like Aik Nayee Cinderella, Aunn Zara, and the very latest Diyar-e-Dil.
Pakistan’s favorite YouTube funny man Osman Khalid Butt, who switched over to TV and film and sustained to impress, was talking in an interview where he was all praises for his partner in crime.
He said that “She’s seen the struggle, the heartbreak and my growth as an actor and as a person. I’d like to think I’ve seen the same in her too,” he further added “Working with her is easy and challenging at the same time. Easy because I’m extremely comfortable around her and challenging because she is a formidable co-star. She forces you to up your game and match her pace.” Butt continued by saying that they both have a habit of talking about each scene earlier and impending with their own approach to them.
He is famous for his versatility, from specializing in comic roles to presenting the strict Wali Khan in Diyar-e-Dil, Butt’s concentration lies in working at the back of the camera. He stated that “I am actually quite seriously considering a shift to film direction and have already started working on ideas and writing one-liners for potential scripts,” he further added that “I’ve always been more fascinated by the other side of the camera.” Butt is currently very busy in working on his very initial directorial project, besides his acting ventures. He is also writing another script for a movie.
His screenplay writing skills will soon be exposed in the shape of Janaan, a comedy movie casting Armeena Khan and Bilal Ashraf, scheduled to release on Eidul Azha.
He further added “Growing up, I was the joker of the family but I never thought I’d have the confidence to act professionally,” he continued “The stage was where I first discovered my passion for acting, choreography, writing, and direction. I owe whatever limited knowledge I have for these mediums to the theatre.”
Bollywood is a charming place for Pakistani actors, does it the same for Butt? “I’ve always been quite enamored by Bollywood because while growing up there weren’t many movies [to see] as far as Lollywood is concerned,” he revealed “But of course with the rebirth of Pakistani cinema, I’m obviously going to favor local productions. It’s an exciting time for Pakistani film but I do have a wish-list of Indian directors that I’d love to work with. A guy can dream, right?”
Butt will be seen on the silver screen soon with the release of the Haissam Hussain directorial Balu Mahi, he said “I can’t reveal much about the film except that it’s about two polar opposites and the unlikely alliance they form after many an insane adventure,”
