Mayweather to fight Betro in September for his farewell match



The undefeated American Floyd Mayweather will face Andre Betro in the ring at Las Vegas on 12th September for the final fight of his career.

Mayweather, who earlier this year won “Fight of the Century” against Manny Pacquiao on a unanimous decision will risk his unbeaten streak of 48-0, WBC and WBA welterweight World titles against the young power house and two time welterweight World Champion Betro.

If Mayweather wins his 49th bout against Betro he will tie up the record with late heavyweight champion Rocky Marciano for 49-0 and after that he retired in April 1956.


The 38 year-old Mayweather said that he is coming back to the ring on 12th September and he will bring his A-game to prove the World again that why he is the best ever. He further said that Andre Betro is a young fighter who is hungry to take down the best in the business, but 48 others have tried before and on 12th September he will make them 49.

On the other hand, the 31 year-old Haitian-American Betro said that he is coming on 12th September to kick Floyd’s ass. He also said that he has no concern with the previous 48 fighters, on 12th September someone is going down and it will not be me.

It will be the sixth and final match record breaking deal between Mayweather and Showtime Network, according to the media reports it will be farewell fight for the unbeaten American. Reportedly Mayweather bagged $220 million from his bout with Pacquiao in the most awaited fight ever staged and generated a revenue of $600 million.
