Diego Maradona who is the football legend from Argentine has stated on Monday and urged Lionel Messi not to go after by on his vow to give up the national team later than its defeat in the Copa America Centenario.
Maradona was quoted as saying by La Nacion newspaper online “Messi has to stay in the national team. He has to stay because he still has playing days ahead of him,”
He continued by saying that “He will go to Russia in form to be world champion” at the 2018 World Cup, he further stated.
The 29-year-old Messi stated to the reporters in the United States that he had determined to quit later than Argentina’s defeat on penalties to Chile there on Sunday.
Messi is far and wide considered as the best player on the globe; however that was his fourth defeat in an international final for Argentina.
The 55-year-old Maradona who is the 1986 World Cup winner Maradona, blamed Argentina’s latest lack of trophies on the country’s football association (AFA). Maradona has served as a manager and coach at other clubs as well as the national team of Argentina.
He blamed it of not supporting Messi and letting him get the guilt for Sunday’s defeat to conceal its weaknesses in managing the sport.
