A longish thriller scoring on almost all aspects of a viewer’s expectations is a rarity in Bollywood. What Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam cinematically achieves is exactly that. The film keeps you intrigued, hooked and guessing throughout its runtime with its backdrop being very believable. South Indian remakes have unabashedly created a reputation of being over the top entertainers with a larger than life setting. But, here’s an exception! Drishyam is rooted, convincing, discerning and on top of it ‘conflicting’. You never really realize how the candid premise of the drama absorbs you completely to the core. The film in fact stands very honest to its title Drishyam, which means visualizing.
