Napa is going to set stage very soon



A few months ago when International Theatre Festival ended up prematurely since that time the stage at the National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) has generally continued empty. The play is directed by Napa faculty member Uzma Sabean and is a version of the Ken Ludwig-scripted Broadway comedy, Lend Me a Tenor. She told that “We are going to start rehearsals sometime around July with the aim of staging it around August or September,” The director moreover explained that how her show contrasts with the Broadway classic. She stated that “It is basically a play about an artist who is slated to perform on a certain day but unexpectedly falls ill. To make matters worse, the people around him give him medicines but he falls unconscious, forcing someone else to step in and continue the show.” The substitute in this way is the unfortunate actor’s own escritoire.

Sabeen continued by saying that “There is a dearth of comedy writers in the country right now which is why we have to resort to doing more adaptations than originals,” she moaned by adding “Even the plays that Anwar Maqsood sahab is doing rely more on one-liners than on traditional situational comedy.” At present, the shows written by the experienced playwright have been recognized to magnetize full houses on every day of the presentations devoid of fail.

The show is produced under the title of Napa Repertory Theatre (NRT) and the cast for Double Trouble generally consists the academy’s own graduates involving Ishtiaq-ur-Rusool, Hasan Raza, Zarqa Naz and Erum Bashir, and much more. Lend Me a Tenor is amid the chosen some plays that have the difference of being displayed at both the West End and Broadway. All through its run it has got a sum of nine Tony Award nominations, succeeding in the grouping of Best Actor and Best Director. The show has been interpreted into about 16 languages.

Before the beginning of Double Trouble’s present at Napa’s auditorium, Sabeen will be directing one more show named Mere Saamnay Wali Khirki, for the All Pakistan Drama Festival occurs at the Arts Council of Karachi. She stated that “That [Mere Saamnay Wali Khirki] too is a very light-hearted play and is going to feature a cast of only three people,”

Mere Saamnay Wali Khirki is a version of the Neil Simon comedy Star Spangled Girl. The original show relies on a love triangle scattered with politics. Whereas the male characters, Andy, and Normon, effort to create ends meet via their magazine, Fallout, which is devoted to combating in opposition to “the system”, the front lady, Sophie is displayed as your typical all-American, Southern girl.
