Pakistan comes hard on Sri-Lanka to win 1st T20

COLOMBO: Pakistan has been very consistent in their all three departments against Sri-Lanka, as Greenshirts take a 1-0 lead in the two match Twenty20 series.

Pakistan’s T20 captain Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat first, the men in Green managed to post a healthy total of 175 runs for Sri-Lanka. Opening batsman Ahmed Shahzad, middle-order batsman Shoaib Malik and Umar Akmal were the top runs scorer from Pakistan, as all three batsman scored 46 runs respectively.

The Islanders couldn’t chase down the winning total of 176 runs, as the Sri-Lankan batting line-up couldn’t sustain Pakistan’s T20 specialist bowler Sohail Tanvir. Both Sohail and Anwar Ali gave early break through to Greenshirts, as the Team Green won the match by 29 runs.

Sohail Tanvir won the Man of the Match award by dismissing three Sri-Lankan batsmen, Anwar Ali took two wickets, Shoaib Malik and Imad Wasim also joined the party by picking up one wicket each.

Earlier in the tour of Sri-Lanka, Pakistan have won the Test series by 2-1, one-day series by 3-2 and now leading the T20 series by 1-0.
