Pakistani dramas on the chopping block in India

Pakistani dramas on the chopping block in India

After Pakistani artists, threat is looming on showcasing of their dramas in India as well after Chairman ZEE TV Dr. Subhash Chandra on Saturday announced that ZEE was mulling to stop Pakistani soaps on Zindagi channel.

He also demanded from Pakistani artists to leave India.

On Friday, an Indian political party, MNS gave Pakistani actors and artists deadline to leave India or MNS will push them out.

These diktats have come at a time when ties between India and Pakistan are tense after the attack in Uri, Indian held Kashmir, that left 18 Indian soldiers dead.

Zindagi Gulzar Hai.

ZEE’s Zindagi channel, the only Hindi-Urdu channel, airs popular Pakistani dramas in India like Pyaare Afzal, Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai.

Tweet of the chairman shows as if fate of the Pakistani soaps hangs in the balance and are going to become victim of politics.

It is pertinent to mention that Indians are fond of Pakistani drama content. These Pakistani TV series made Fawad Khan more celebrated in the Hindu extremist state. The Pakistani actor is all set to appear in Karan Johar’s soon to be released Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

Will this tweet mean the end of Pakistani dramas on Indian TV?
