Pakistanis in ‘World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims’ list 20171,417 views
‘World’s 500 Most Influential Muslims’ list 2017 has been released and our prestigious Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and Abida Parveen are included in the list.
Veteran politician and industrialist Nawaz Shareef is the 12th and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, in office since June 2013 and is the president of Pakistan Muslim League (N), which holds a parliamentary majority since 2013.
Courageous and daring Raheel Shareef is a four-star rank army general, currently serving as the 15th Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army.
Abida Perveen is the Sindhi legend and a prominent Pakistani Sufi singer often dubbed as the ‘”Queen of Sufi music.
The list is published by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre and includes Muslims from all over the world, who have been recognized for their work. Whilst late Abdul Sattar Edhi’s name seemed under obituaries and provided recognition for his charitable acts, his wife Bilquis Edhi was as well featured on the list, for her philanthropy and charity work.
The list featured more than 30 Muslims from Pakistan. It is also including Pakistani politician, former cricketer, philanthropist, cricket commentator, the former chancellor of theUniversity of Bradford and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan, human rights activist and lawyer Asma Jahangir, child activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai, eminent Pakistani Muslim religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel and Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
Meanwhile, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, His Royal Highness Shah Karim Al Hussayni The Aga Khan, Amir of Tablighi Jamaat Pakistan Hajji Mohammed Abdul Wahhab and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani were amid the top 50 Muslims on the list.
The ‘final 450’ were recognized for their work in 13 categories involving, philanthropy, charity, politics, arts and culture, science and technology and administration of religious affairs.
