KARACHI: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak on Sunday paid tribute to celebrated social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi for his services and announced allocation of free land for Edhi Foundation in three districts of KP.

He then visited Edhi’s residence in Mithadar and condoled with Abdul Sattar’s son, Faisal Edhi.

“Abdul Sattar Edhi was a big national hero,” he said during his visit while accompanied by Speaker KP Assembly Asad Qaiser and MNA Mushtaq Ghani.

The PTI delegation led by Pervez Khattak later met CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah.

The CM KP also announced one million rupees for Edhi Center.

Edhi, 88, died late on Friday after a long kidney illness, triggering an outpouring of grief in the impoverished nation of 190 million for a man who transcended social, ethnic and religious divisions.

Over nearly 60 years Edhi’s charitable arm, the Edhi Foundation, established clinics and orphanages across Pakistan and ran a vast fleet of ambulances, offering help to poor communities failed by inadequate public health and welfare services.
