Inmates take turns to sleep on the floor, stairs and the basketball court as up to 200 men squeeze into a single cell built for just 20,

These eye-opening images show the men cope with their daily life from hitting the gym and cooking, to playing basketball and washing from buckets of dirty water.

A former inmate, Raymund Narag, visited the prison after studying justice at the Southern Illinois University in the US.

Narag served seven years for the murder of a young man he claimed he did not commit.

He has since released a book ‘Freedom and Death Inside the Jail’, where he speaks out about the notorious jail where he ‘experienced death every waking minute’.

Dr Narag claimed there are little food rations and meals often contain rusty nails and cockroaches, leaving the men staving.

The prisoners are forced to endure filthy conditions, lack of nourishment and no ventilation within the small cells, which causes many to fall ill or develop rashes and boils, he claimed.
