PM Sharif: ‘My opponents, terrorists toeing same agenda’

SUKKUR: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Friday performed groundbreaking of Sukkur-Multan motorway project in Sukkur, and as usual, employed the opportunity to criticise his political opponents.

“Development, prosperity and uplift of country is agenda of our government; on the other hand, opponents don’t want us to work for the country, alike terrorists who wish to halt our way to progress. Their agendas are not different, as both want anarchy and uncertainty in Pakistan,” the PM asserted.

“The nation is witnessing who is supporter of development projects and who is placing obstacles,” he said.

“My dream of motorways has materialized. This motorway will connect all provinces and ultimately China to Pakistan,” said the PM after performing groundbreaking of Sukkur-Multan motorway.

He was addressing a large public meeting in Sukkur, a political stronghold of opposition Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), and constituency of PPP’s Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah.

The six-lane motorway project is part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It will pass through Multan-Jalalpur Peerwala Ahmed Pur East, Ubaro and Pano Aqil and will terminate at Sukkur.

In this project, total 54 bridges will be constructed including one major bridge on River Sutlej. The motorway will provide high speed transportation between Sindh and Punjab, officials said.

The 393-kilometer Sukkur-Multan Motorway is part of crucially important project of Peshawar-Karachi Motorway. It will be completed with financial assistance of China.
