PPP’s Dr. Asim Hussain sent for 90 days Physical Remand in Rangers Custody


Asim ATCKARACHI: Dr. Asim Hussain, Chairman Sindh HEC and former adviser to then president Asif Ali Zardari, has been sent into rangers custody for 90 days physical remand.

Mr. Asim Hussain was presented before local Anti -Terrorism court today in tightened security where Rangers counsel appealed before judge to hand over him in their custody for 90 days remand in order to further investigation.

On the charges of corruption, money laundering, issuing CNG licenses illegally, and financial aiding of three terrorists, Asim Hussain was taken up in arrest by  LEAs yesterday from Sindh Higher Education Officer, Karachi.

Asim ATC 1This action taken against Dr. Asim is in connection with ongoing clean up operation in Karachi by Rangers that aimed to cleanse the city with terrorists and their linked elements.

National Accountability bureau has failed many corruption cases against the him and he is one of the very close aides of PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari who appointed him in 2008 as his adviser for petroleum’s portfolio.

This is the first major arrest from the Pakistan Peoples Party’s ranks since the Karachi operation started in the city. Political analysts think that a few more to follow in the up coming days from the current ruling party of the Sindh.
