Sadiq khan, the latest London mayor, stated on Wednesday that he was not a Muslim leader but symbolizing everyone in the metropolis, later than making history by becoming the initial mayor of his religion in a main Western capital.
The 45 year old mayor stated in a press conference that “Let me be very clear, I’m not a Muslim leader or Muslims’ spokesperson, I’m the mayor of London. I speak for all Londoners,”

He reiterates his criticism of presumptive US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who has planned banning all Muslims from incoming the United States.
Khan, who is an associate of Britain’s opposition Labour party, stated that Trump was “ignorant regarding Islam” and was “playing into the hands of the extremists”.
Trump crafted the recommendation in December; days subsequent to a terror assault murdered 14 people in San Bernardino, California, stating Muslims must not be capable to enter the US “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”
Khan also accounted his support for Britain to remain in the European Union in the June 23 referendum, stating association was critical for London’s prosperity.
He added as, “It’s crucial for London to remain in the EU… Half a million jobs are directly dependent on the union,”
He further stated that Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo at their meeting on Tuesday had made fun that in case of Brexit, she “roll out the red carpet to welcome London companies” to the French capital.
He stated that he would be contented to campaign beside Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron “as it’s much significant than political parties”.
The recent census illustrated that 12.4 percent of Londoners are Muslim, 48.4 percent Christian, 1.8 percent Jewish and 20.7 percent have no faith.
