Salman Butt should be ban for life, says Former PCB Chief168 views
Former Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) chairman Ijaz Butt said that according to him their should be a life-ban on former captain Salman Butt as he was the central figure in this spot-fixing scandal.
The 77 year-old Ijaz, who was PCB chief back in 2010 when this spot-fixing news shocked the world of cricket said that Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt have served their punishment from International Cricket Council (ICC) now PCB should also impose some punishment on them and the board shouldn’t allow former captain to represent Pakistan again.
He further said that the fast bowling pair of Amir and Asif should be kept under strict supervision for at least six months, he would have banned Salman for life because in his opinion he was the central figure in this incident.
Ijaz added that Salman pressurized Amir to join him in spot-fixing, he also convinced Amir to keep him in the loop in the developments of spot-fixing scandal but the pace-bowler refused.
He also revealed that how Mazhar Majeed was introduced to the players, who was an agent of the trio’s. Mazhar used to be work as an agent and he has been working for Pakistan cricketers for a long time, he was introduced to him by some former players.
Pakistan’s former cricket chief said that he had accepted his responsibility and at that time he was ready to cooperate with the board’s current administration.
