Everyone uses different social media sites like Facebook, tweeter and Instagram etc and availability of these social media sites on mobile devices has made easier for people to upload their images. A new research study has revealed that if you are going through a romantic relationship crisis then it can be for the reason that you are posting a lot of selfies on Instagram.

Researchers from Florida State University in the US have discovered that the more selfies an individual posts on the social media site Instagram, the bigger the likelihood he or she might experience romantic relationship clash and dissolution.

A survey was conducted online of 420 Instagram users from the ages of 18 and 62 and the research team discovered that Instagram-selfie-posting is linked with, and forecasted by, an individual’s generally body image contentment. The researchers revealed that this means that the people who consider they look good are much probable to post selfies.

Nevertheless, Instagram-selfie-posting behaviors were discovered to be linked with amplified Instagram-related association clash. The research team described Instagram-related clash as envy and quarrels occurring because of either — or both — partners’ Instagram selfie posting behaviors.

Instagram-related clash was discovered to be linked with enlarged negative romantic association results — emotional or physical unfaithfulness, breakup, and divorce.

Russell Clayton, who is an assistant professor in the School of Communication, stated that “Although we cannot directly assume cause and effect due to the correlational nature of this study, the results here show that body image satisfaction can be detrimental to Instagram users’ romantic relationships — especially when users’ body image satisfaction is promoted in the form of Instagram selfie posts,”

The results of the research study were cited in the journal Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking.
