Shaukat Ali Pakistan’s veteran folk singer had a heart attack when he was traveling to the US on Thursday night. He was hurriedly taken to the hospital in a serious condition, but now Ali is on the way of recovery.
He was in transportation to Washington DC at Abu Dhabi airport as he was taken to the hospital. Mohsin, who is the son of Ali, informed that “My father was traveling to the US to partake in some recordings in connection with August 14. He has prepared some new patriotic songs,” Mohsin continued by saying that “He as well had to travel to other locations in the US but subsequent to the incident in Abu Dhabi, doctors have advised him against singing until he has recovered fully.”
Mohsin further stated that family members are by his side at the hospital where his angiography has by now been accomplished. Mohsin added further information “My father has done a great service to this country and thousands have learned music from him. We are all praying for his good health.”
Imran, who is Ali another son, further added that “Of course, the tour has been canceled after the angiography but luckily, he is in good shape. Our father was very enthusiastic about this tour; we have always seen him most active when recording,” Imran further continued that “Mohsin and I are worried about his health of course. He is an asset to us and the country. We are hopeful that we can participate in recordings for Independence Day once he is back.”
Heart problem is not novel for Ali this time, he as experienced it in the past and had undergone cardiac treatment in 2005 as well.
Ali is much recognized for the 1965 Indo-Pak war anthem Jaag Utha Hai Sara Watan. The song was the part of the movie Mujahid and it was penned by Hamayat Ali Shair and composed by Khalil Ahmad. In the past, the 76-year-old Ali stated in an interview that September 6 still provides him an adrenaline rush. He had further added that “Every passing day reminds me of our zeal back then. I made a lot of music but the war effort brought me center stage,”
Ali was born into a family of artists in Malakwal, Punjab, Pakistan, Shaukat Ali began singing when he was at college in the 1960s, receiving help from his elder brother Inayat Ali Khan.
