Sir Viv Richards and the tale of the ‘Quetta Gladiators’

Viv Richards has shown a different side of himself in the Quetta Gladiators dugout. He says unlike all the other T20 leagues where he has played similar roles, for the first time he felt he was part of a closely-knit family

“From the moment I met the team [Quetta Gladiators], I realised we can be like a family. This is why we have done so well and the reason we are where we are today,” said the legend.

The very first day was of utmost importance because we are coming from all walks of life and for the period of time that we were going to be together it is important that we understand each other as quickly as possible. That to me is the crucial ingredient for success,” he said.

“It is because of the good people around. I’ve been in the Caribbean Premier League, I’ve been in the Big Bash League, but I’ve never been this happy. They have embraced me with open arms. That is why you see me as animated,” he added.
