Temperature rising in Calgary Greenway Bi-Election Nominations832 views
Wild Rose party moved their nomination date to February 26, there two candidates contesting for nominations and both are very strong candidates for the nomination race, Mr. Devinder Toor and Mr. Robin Martin. Devinder Toor contested in last elections from the same ridging and in a very short campaign he managed to secure astounding handsome number of votes against Late Manmeet Bhullar MLA.
Robin Martin is a new name in the N.E. political arena and the only Caucasian candidate in this race. The meaning of ‘Robin’ is a sign of spring and nice breeze. Historical story of Robin is how he got a red feather chest is by fanning the fire to save a native man and his son’s life, that’s how he got the beautiful red chest a symbol of sacrifice and strong leadership.
Robin Martin has been involved in politics for the past 17 years and he is the son in-law of MP Deepak Oberoi who is parliamentary secretary in last Conservative government. MP Oberoi also held an important position as Minister of Foreign Affairs Secretary to Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, a side note is that MP Oberoi is the only Conservative MP who opposed Bill C-24. So, Robin Martin does have a strong backing of his Father In-law.
The name ‘Devinder’ is associated with lords and the Hindu God ‘Indra’ and Devinder is king of lords, therefore he is the one who runs and manages the universe and create leaders.
While on the other hand Devinder Toor has had past experience in the riding and had lost memberships to support him. His media background will help him get the nomination. With the Wild Rose party’s popularity on the rise, no matter who wins the nomination, it is going to be a very interesting bi-election and one can not predict who will win. With the Late Manmeet Bhullar’s family is staying away from the election, sympathy votes will not be a factor.
Candidates will have to pull their own weights in this tough race.
