Traders Observe Shutter Down Strike Against WHT144 views
LAHORE: Trader Unions across the country are observing a country wide shutter down strike today (Ist August) against the withholding tax on banking transactions.
The largest body of the traders All Pakistani Anjuman-e-Tajiran wrote a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif to help them in getting rid of this WHT burden.
Traders are of viewpoint that they will continue their protest against government until government reverse its decision and for this, their all bodies are on same page.
The strike call has been given from All Pakistani Anjuman-e-Tajiran and Quomi Tajir Ittehad and other traders bodies assured of their full support to them.
All markets and majority of business centers are closed and the rival parties of the PMLN’s led federal government PTI , PPP have also assured their full support to the traders on this issue.
Federal Government had imposed 0.6% withholding tax on each banking transaction of Rs. 50,000 or more which later on revised to 0.3% amidst protests of traders.
