Udaari got notice by PEMRA



Udaari the most recent and eminent drama serial on Hum TV is facing a surprise move by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) which has served a show-cause notice for seeking a clarification for the representation of ‘unethical’ scenes.

The notice provided to the makers of the top TV serial, which has got positive response for showing the matter of child abuse, asserts that the episode aired on 8 May illustrates an uncle (performed by Ahsan Khan) vigorously attracting his niece into illegal activitiesIt additional documents that the similar episode also illustrates Ahsan’s role having immoral intentions for his young stepdaughter.


As said by the notice, the depiction of these scenes didn’t descend much with the spectators, parents especially. Pemra has also asserted that psychiatrists consideration these kinds of acts can stir up sinful sentiments of evil minds in society.

The media regulatory authority has stated that it got a lot of grievances in opposition to the channel on its official Twitter address and helpline number.


In spite of the claims though, leading actor of the cast Ahsan Khan has been appreciated for his performance. Ahsan stated in an interview as, “We as a nation and as a society need to educate each other on such issues and drama is the best medium to do so,”

It was inquired that how he feels regarding Udaari being served a notice, he replied as “We need to look beyond saas-bahu sagas and divorces to address critical issues and help create awareness.”


Ahsan moreover told that the team was aware of the sensitivity of the matter nearby. He told as, “This serial has shown the issue in a lighter way as opposed to more explicit content we usually see on our news channels and social media.”

He inquired that “How can we say no to highlighting the issue in a subtle way, especially when it has constantly being overlooked?”
