WATCH: Pakistan flag hoisted in India’s Bihar district

BIHAR: Officials of Nalanda district in Bihar on Thursday reacted strongly after reports of hoisting of Pakistani flag at a house located in the neighbourhood.

TV channels showed the green flag with the moon and crescent hoisted at the house of one Anwarul Haque in Kharadi colony. Nalanda is the home district of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

On seeing the video grab, police immediately rushed to the spot and seized the flag from family members. The family had removed the flag before officials reached.

Later, the officials took the flag with them. Kumar said the matter is being investigated, including veracity of the flag.

According to Indian news agency, Shabana Anwar, Haque’s daughter, said, “We are hoisting this flag on the occasion of Muharram for past five years.”

The opposition has attacked the Nitish Kumar government over the episode with senior BJP leader CP Thakur demanding stern action in the matter.
