Woman in India stripped, beaten and forced to drink urine

The woman was dragged out of her house in the village and taken to the community hall. There she was stripped in front of the village elders, her head was shaven and she was punched.

In a shocking news, a 35-year old tribal woman belonging to Kalyanpur village in Bokaro, Jharkhand, was stripped in public, tonsured, beaten and forced to drink human urine mixed with excreta, because she had ‘dared’ to stand is support of a man, who had been branded a witch doctor by the village. The incident took place at around 8 pm on Friday in the village, which is a mere 21 Kms from the Steel City of Bokaro. An FIR lodged by the woman with the Jaridih Police, names four people as the accused and all four have been absconding.

Maheshwar Manjhi (40), Surendra Manjhi (30), Bhim Manjhi (30) and Gopichand Manjhi (28) allegedly assaulted and tortured the woman in an attempt of moral policing and as an attack on the woman’s boldness to back the man. All four have been booked under several sections of the Indian Oenal Code including those for rape, outraging the modesty of a woman and criminal conspiracy, which can invite life term, reported ABP Live. On Friday, the four accused came knocking at her door in the evening, and threatened to break her door, if she didn’t open it.

“As soon as she did (open the door), they dragged her out in front of her husband. When the 40-year-old man tried to resist, he was thrashed,” OC Jaridih, Bal Kishan Singh told ABP Live. The woman was then taken to the community hall, where she was stripped in front of the villages elders, and her head was shaved. The men started punching her, calling her a “bad woman” and accused her of having an illegitimate affair with an “ojha” or an outcast.

What came next was even more disgusting- Maheshwari, who is the main accused, mixed human urine with excreta in a bottle, and forced it down the woman’s throat! The police have started investigations in the case and also raided houses in the village in their efforts to nab the culprits. The report also says that the accused are all farmers and that the police are hopeful of nabbing them soon.Bokaro DSP Niraj Pandey also testified saying, “We are investigating all the charges and conducting raids to arrest the accused.”
